Online Presentation Tools

There are many free online presentation tools with all the features you need to create a presentation for the task.

Here are some things to look for and what you can write about in your review about a presentation tool:

  • Ease-of-use. You don't want to spend hours and hours learning how to use the presentation tool. Good presentation software should be easy to learn and have plenty of training resources available if not on their website, at least on YouTube.
  • Import/export features. Your presentation software tool should be compatible with popular file formats. Also, keep in mind that at some point you may want to export your presentation into another tool. Or create your presentation in PowerPoint and upload your presentation to the online tool.
  • Real-time collaboration. Teamwork has become increasingly important in today's environment and also as part of your task. Some online web-based presentation tools will allow you and your team to collaborate together on your project. This would be both a synchronous and asynchronous tool.
  • Cloud access and storage. It used to be that when you were away from your computer, you couldn't work on your project until you came back. With a cloud-based tool, that's no longer a problem. Access your work anywhere there's an Internet connection. This is being digitally literate.
  • Audio/video capabilities. Multi-media has become the norm for slideshows. Your presentation for the task should have an audio or video component. Check what is required.
  • Good technical support. What are you going to do if something goes wrong while you're creating your presentation? Look for a presentation software tool with good support resources such as third-party tutorials, a strong online help, or help resource. This information should be a component of your review of this online digital tool.
To include further in your review, consider what elements your presentation tool needs.  Templates are an important aspect of a presentation tool and you need to be mindful what the software will offer to you as a 'free' resource.  Again, this is something you can write about in terms of how much the software can offer and what you can use that is suitable for audience.
